I thought I would share a little something about myself to anyone that reads this.
So I thought about what I could share with readers that may be of interest and then I started thinking about what my passions or hobbies are and come up with a short list as most of my time is spent at work (which is definitely not a passion).
1. Family History
2. Reading a good book
3. Photography
4. Knitting
So what is a passion, well the dictionary definition of passion is "any powerful or compelling emotion such as love or hate" and then it goes on about "Sexual desire", so for me I am going to talk about the things I feel strongly however to spare anyone that reads this I am going to leave my sexual desires out of it.
FAMILY HISTORY
This has been a passion of mine for many many years, it is very interesting to look into the past of your family and others I might add, and see what they got up to, where they lived and who they associated with.
It can be very frustrating at times when the "Trunk" you are looking up doesn't cough up its answers and mysteries. Like my Great Grandmother who seems to be born to one family but lived with and was known as the daughter of another, however since they were basically Irish Gypsies this is not really surprising but very hard to work out.
However it can be very rewarding to find snippets out about your family or another family that assists in piecing the history of the family together. Like my Husbands family who can trace their linage back to the 1st Fleet of Prisoners that were sent out from England in 1788.
READING A GOOD BOOK
Over the years I have come to the conclusion that when reading a book and watching a movie of that book that my imagination is so much worse than anything the writers and directors can come up with.
Who remembers the Spider in the Lord of the Rings, I scared myself reading that to the point I wasn't sure I could keep reading it (I did) but had nightmares for many nights after that but when I watched the movie it wasn't half as bad as I had imagined.
PHOTOGRAPHY
This is a fairly recent passion of mine, I do like a good photo and I love taken photo (I won't say a good one as I don't really know if I take a good one or not).
So what did I do I joined a Camera Club near where I live and each month they judge your photos out of 10, so I put in 4 last month and got 2 sixes, 1 seven and 1 eight, so I figured that wasn't too bad. However I know that each judge has different opinions and it is all very subjective.
The real thing I like about being in the club is the hints and tips that the other club members can give you and most of the Judges will give comments on photo's (how can it be improved).
The only thing I find frustrating in the Photography world is that a photo is not necessarily a photo and it is very acceptable to photoshop your photos to make them "better". So now I have to hone up my photoshopping skills to get the very best out of my photo.
KNITTING
This is another more recent passion as well. I have always knitted especially when my children were little however then I started working and became time poor so really gave it away but now I am back into a fairly regular routine with knitting.
What am I doing, well I finished something I started about three years ago. Now I am making little tops for a Charity via my Mum that sends little knitted tops to the hospitals in Africa.
I am now looking for a Teddy Bear pattern to make a baby Bear for a Bear that was knitted more than 18 years ago, so this is what I will be doing prior to July.
In conclusion none of these passionate hobbies of mine are going to make me any substantial money so looks like I will have to keep doing something at is definitely not a passion of mine and that is working but these will keep my sanity in tact until the day I can retire and then more more effort into these 4 areas and maybe find some new ones.
